During my healing journey from late-stage Lyme disease and associated infections, I’ve learned the importance of attaining health from the inside out. Food is both medicine and nourishment, and undoubtedly plays a huge role in healing. But I’ve also realized that many modern-day products are filled with harsh chemicals and unnatural ingredients that can contribute to an unhealthy burden of excess toxins in your body. So I thought, if I’m making the necessary changes in my diet, then it only makes sense to learn about alternative hair and skincare products as well. As it turns out, you don’t have to spend tons of money to achieve wonderful effects. Products can be made yourself at home with just a handful of high-quality ingredients.

One of the reasons why I love Well Scent is because they promote the healing from the outside in, as well as the inside out. It takes less than 30 seconds for ingredients in your products to enter the bloodstream! You can read Candice’s post about the importance of using natural products here: The Importance of Natural Products

One of my favorite simple, natural, multi-use ingredients is coconut oil. There’s a good reason why it’s basically a buzz word within health circles. It’s rich in healthy fatty acids that are broken down for energy. Adding coconut oil to your diet can help fight off illness and boost your immune system because of its antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral properties. But coconut oil isn’t just amazing for your insides! I’ve been using it for my skin as well.

Why coconut as a beauty product? It is known to heal wounds and regenerate skin, prevent and diminish stretch marks, and serve as a wonderful (toxin-free) moisturizer in place of paraben-filled, synthetic chemical laden lotions. With all of its healing properties, it can also fight skin abnormalities like acne, psoriasis, eczema, and even combat wrinkles.

Today I’ll be sharing 3 simple ways to elevate your coconut oil with Well Scent blends.

Balance scented oil

1) Balance” Moisturizer
Coconut oil is a great moisturizer, but you can kick it up a notch by adding Well Scent’s “Balance” blend, one of my favorite essential oils that has personally improved many of my skin conditions (whenever I have an odd rash or breakout I always reach for Balance). Add a couple of drops to a tiny bit of coconut oil for a post-wash moisturizer.

Watch Your Mouth – Extreme Clean Natural Mouthwash

2) Watch Your Mouth” Oil Pulling
If you haven’t given oil pulling a try, you should. Swishing coconut oil around the mouth for about 15-20 minutes can help give your mouth an all around detox, pulling toxicity from the gums and reducing the harmful bacteria that thrive there. Bacteria can create biofilm on and around the teeth, creating a build up of plaque. Having a healthy mouth is absolutely necessary in order to have a healthy body, so destroying the bad bacteria can eliminate a lot of problems like bad breath, gum inflammation, cavities, and gingivitis. Dental health and oral wellness has a direct correlation to the health of your heart, your brain, your lymphatics and your immune system. Eliminating the bad bacteria in your mouth not only supports immunity and eliminates oral issues like bad breath and gingivitis, but can improve neurological health and cardiovascular function.

Elevate your coconut oil by adding a couple of drops of Well Scent’s, “Watch Your Mouth” which has been clinically proven to significantly reduce bacteria in the mouth, and is a dramatically more effective alternative to toxic conventional toothpaste.

Over the Moon – Endocrine Support

3) “Over the Moon” Body Scrub
I have been loving making my own body scrubs. My skin is always so soft after making this simple homemade recipe (and once again, you can be totally worry-free knowing that all the ingredients are completely safe.) Use either 1/2 a cup of sugar or sea salt (or a combination) mixed with 1/2 a cup of coconut oil and 7-10 drops of your favorite Well Scent Blend. I like to switch up the scents, but one of my favorites to use is Well Scent’s “Over the Moon”.
